The Importance of World War I on Australian Wine Production
World War I was an important turning point for colonial wines. The disruption to European wine production helped fill a void in the British market. A sense of imperial unity also plays into the sales of colonial wines. Women entering the workforce and being seen as more independent consumers may have changed how working class and poor people consumed wine.
