Kevin McCarthy's Speakership Is Precarious
Kevin McCarthy's position is very precarious, and he has a lot of conservatives who expect him to hold this line. If any bill comes back to the House that's not as severe in its cutting as what the House already passed, you're going to get a lot of Republicans to vote against it. A motion to vacate means you need 218 votes to knock a speaker out. And if McCarthy were to bring a bill to the floor that had Biden support, Chuck Schumer's support, then it would surely have Hakeem Jeffery support from Democrats.
