Bart's Rema Commentary
Bart doesn't even mention some of the pressing lexical and grammatical concerns that I mentioned earlier, you know, the kind of questions that biblical scholars might busy themselves with. Other phrases are simply ignored suggesting that the reader and their concerns are overwhelming the text in an act of hermeneutical violence. Bart regularly uses first person pronouns which act to include him and his readers within the Pauline address. This is in comment on 8-10 and then page after page of we this and our that. The almost sermonic nature of Bart's rhetoric is jarring. Rather than a careful weighing up of interpretive options, the style is more expressionist as often being pointed out.
