The Role of an Expert in Design
I think the role of an expert is to see the world through a different lens. We live in a time when everyone feels that their opinion matters, but not all opinions are equal. Aesthetics is a very easy target because no one understands how aesthetics works and they feel that subjective opinion is the rule of the day. And so perhaps saying that people are ignorant of design or not knowledgeable of the process or shortsighted is contentious.
