The Concept of Essentiality
Social construction is in broader sense as a response to the notion that there are essential characteristics, essential human nature. And when you talk about that, if you buy into the notion of essentiality, you're buying into a certain adherence to causal laws and a kind of fatalism like with respect to what those categories outline for you or not fall into them.
