In tenado, treaties are actually written rently. What we're committed to do is to consult our constitutional processes. If a nato ally is attacked and invoked, invokes article five. And that was put in there in the original treaty because the senate would refuse to ratify it. It took away from congress the final power of declaring war. In fact, the president would have to go to congress for authorization if we were attacked.
