Brett: How are we as progressive folks supposed to rewrite the rules of our economy if this hidden structure is stopping us? I think that there are some very obvious things that could be done which is not to say they're likely but for example you know why not simply ban ownership of certain types of assets by certain types of economic actor. There's no inherent reason why closed end investment funds managed by an asset manager of the type that I've been describing should be able to buy apartment blocks or electricity distribution networks, he says.
