Functional Programming Is Not a Mystery
The people who pay us to do our work, all they care about are the side effects. And so if you sort of think about functional programming as not wanting to do side effects, it seems like functional programming can't actually do anything. The answer is that functional programming is all about how do you arrive at the results? And the answer that functional programming has is that you arrival at the results by using immutable data and calculations and pure functions.
