Drugs and Food Have Something in Common
All addictive drugs appear to share in common is their ability to stimulate dopamine transmission in the brain and eating seems to do the same thing. Eating food when you're hungry gives you a huge dopamine hit or eating hyper-palatable food which is super tasty junk food whenever if you're not hungry doesn't matter also gives you this giant dose of feel good chemicals in the brain. So someday we'll have this scan that can actually distinguish but for now it's looking like drugs. It's really really difficult to be able to tell the difference I mean to look at these incredibly complex patterns of a brain activity in real time there's a ton of information being processed.
