The History of Sudan

Sudan was ruled by Britain and Egypt in a strange arrangement called the Anglo-Egyptian condominium. Sudan became independent, but within these tensions contained within it. Even before independence at the start of 1956, the first North-South Civil War broke out. There were ultimately two very long civil wars before Saasidans seceded in 2011.
