I didn't know I was autistic until I was 22. That's when I got diagnosed and started going to therapy for it. So I had a hellish childhood, you know, dealing with a lot of that. When in therapy for it, basically what they taught us is look at other people, mimic the facial expressions,. You should be laughing if you know they're smiling, you should be smiling. It happens in a millisecond, but that's essentially what autistic people are doing. And then all of a sudden I settled into my own real voice and I realized what it was so I do have my own author voice that I can use.
