ESPN has begun altering the conditions of their contracts with cable providers and pro sports leagues. ESPN currently gets something like $9 per subscriber for every cable system it's on, which is more money than you're going to get from a cord cutter on average. But linear TV is going down so fast that that revenue is going to go away.
