Is There a Difference Between Modern Stoicism and Ancient Stoicism?

Stoicism, in a sense, got interrupted after the second or tit century. A lot of modern stoics talk abouta the so called dicarma control. The notion that some things are up to us and other things are not up to us. And i wonder if you think it is also found in buddhism.
