I found it very useful when I was recovering from COVID six to eight weeks or so. It gave me an idea of being able to settle settle below a certain heart rate actually back the training intensity off. The Australian endurance cycling team were prescribed these 10 hour rides. They would go off and do two hours and they would park up a low electricity pylon. This is the days before GPS, but you just had this noise from the pylons on to the heart rate monitors. And then they'd cycle back. That's a really, really, I love it for the point of view that even if it's false, we're tailoring the training to what they think they need
