The Role of Obedience in Religious Community

One of the vows that religious community takes is obedience. By having obedience be one of the vows then the monks are able to say i'm going to do whatever i'm asked by my superiors, he says. But at the same time you're able to have some sort of rule and order in a society like America today where there's this longing for discipline but people fear disciplining their subjects.
