The Importance of Having a Good Credit Score
Tracy in Florida says her husband has had an Amex Gold card for about 20 years. He hasn't used the card in years, but refuses to close it because it's one of his oldest lines of credit and he's afraid of what it will do to his score. Tracy: I say he should cancel it since there's no downgrade path to a no annual fee card since it's in good standing. Since it's a charge card, it would have no effect on his monthly utilization.
