Linking Devices of Contrast: Usage and Examples

This chapter explores the use of linking devices of contrast, such as despite and in spite of, and how they can be followed by the ING form of a verb or a noun phrase. It also discusses how these devices can be followed by the phrase 'the fact that' plus a subject and verb, and differentiates their usage from that of while and whereas.
