When we place our trust in certain spiritual leaders and those people wound us, what happens is that we lose trust in ourselves. The experience of being wounded by those in a position of spiritual authority poisons my ability to trust my own gut. We learn to shut down core, beautiful, necessary parts of ourselves. And it's letting those wake up that that liberates us and that heals us.
