Sonny Rollins and Transcribing

Sonny Rollins was a big part of what his parents were a part of a relatively large migration from the Caribbean into New York. I didn't realize Sonny Rollins' connection necessarily well it's obvious now but at the time you know how those musical things musical branches even though the roots still go back to West Africa have formed a particular kind of form within the rhythmic code and that Caribbean thing was really kind of resonating with me. transcription is a way of healing that and reconnecting those dots and so I transcribed his solos basicallyYou know learned bar two every solo on the record which is like which is a lot to memorize and stuff  and Mambo Bounce was the first
