The Effects of Moderate Alcohol Consumption on Health

Dr. Siria Kaby-Philips is a senior consultant and clinical specialist in habitology at the Liver Institute of the Rajakari Hospital in Kerala. For many years people have believed that moderate amounts of alcohol are not bad for you, that in fact it might protect you against heart disease. But once people started coming out of the tunnel vision about heart as the only improved outcome with alcohol use, they found out that even low levels of drinking were affecting other organ systems. Plus if you drink one or two drinks a week your chances of getting cancers increased.
