What Is a Zarf? Scaffes?

Malcolm Thornehill invented cardboard in 1817, according to Wikipedia. But there is no evidence of this and it's been taken off the internet with no evidence. Cardboard was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 2005. Is it so that when you give your kids presents at Christmas they can say well I got you something from the Hall of Fame? Last year one of the great toys wasn't even a stick but sand and American girl dolls.
