Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman was shocked by the violence in video games. He sponsored legislation calling for a game rating system within one year. A Senate subcommittee chaired by Lieberman would hold hearings on the issue. Sega and Nintendo ended up getting into a head-to-head battle in front of everyone.
