ARINZ's Merger With TVNZ

If the government had got its way and ARINZ and TVNZ had been merged, mashed together, a new entity created. The suspicion is that TVNZ never really wanted it and their management didn't go that far to make it happen. I think there would have been opportunities for a bigger news operation that we may not have seen had we not got the funding boost afterwards. We've had a different hat in recent times as well, the Media Freedom Committee, which represents the mutual interests of New Zealand's main news organizations across different media. Is that something we need to up our game on?
