How Important Is Your Lipoprotein a Marker?

Lipoprotein A is a molecule that's very similar to LDL cholesterol molecule but it's an atherogenic moiety so it essentially it potentiates clap formation. So think of it as an LDL like molecule that potentiates thrombosis or clotting and so if it's elevated people can have an elevated lipoprotein A and normal cholesterol quote unquote total cholesterol and still be at risk for heart attacks or stroke.
