CHAPTER

How to Write a Novel Every Day

With first drafts I have to show up every day or at least every weekday because the way I work on the first draft is that I give myself a word count and I just keep going. So with the first draft I'm pretty consistent and going at it every day with a word count in mind, then I get to the end of that and usually I take a break from it. Then I come back to read what I've written and that's when I actually start working on a novel or on a story or on an essayBecause then I start revising and tinkering with things. Usually do this thing where I have a word document that's got like say maybe 10,000 words.
