If there's significant belly pain, vomiting, bloody stool an emergent ultrasound needs to be done. Patients with proteinuria or hypertension will need Pete's nephro follow up. About a third of patients with HSP actually have a recurrence and this recurrence usually takes place within the first year after the initial episode.
