Coaches should be able to leave things where they are, rather than drag forward into the present and into your future. We can't totally ignore what is going wrong in our work and in our world, but we have to respond to it in a way that gives us a chance of moving forward. A coach at west point did something beautiful one afternoon when the team was under performing on a fullfield passing drill. He externalized it, pushing it away from the team's collective confidence. That's the kind of thing that's possible for all of us. I can't emphasize that enough.
