The Schubert Enterprises, a Two Headed Organism
An amazing profile of the brothers ran in 19 39 in the new yorker, was written by a j leeblane. He spends quite a few paragraphs here examining this rift between the two brothers and also their eccentricities. But that doesn't sound too convenient for actually running a company, no? I mean, there was literally a street between them. This custom has given rise to a theatre district legend that the brothers are mortal enemies and do not speak at all. The legend is not founded on fact. When either of the schuberts is really in a hurry to discuss something with the other, he walks across the street to do so.
