Will the Fed Be Able to Bear the Onslaught of Public Opinion?
Powell: The Fed has not said exactly what sort of inflation targeting they planned to engage in, but powe speech did say that they are going to be flexible about it. At some points they could be saying doing things consistent with a a longer window or closer to price level targeting. At other times, they could be doing the opposite. It's hardly obvious that it will improve things,. A now, conceivably that couldbei could improve things, but it's hardly apparent that it will.
