John: I was raised in a very religious home. My mam died when i was young, but my mam was a jesus fanatic. You couldn't wear black. Rockin roll was looked at as literally the worst thing the devil ever did. And so i knew that, because when i was five years old,  my best friend turned on something that was called m t v. He'slie, music television. That's back when m t v played music, nothing but music. Ten ai remember that, not when it's lame now, just before it was lame. Anyway, that was the first time i ever heard any music that was not church music
