The History of Night in the Western World
i wonder if the idea that darkness is at its core, a bad thing or an evil entity, comes simply as a result of the fact that we are creatures of the day. The night time symbolizes the arrival of a time and place that is not for us. So i guess it's almost an have felt inherently unhuman te place that we trespass into. It is a place and time that has had to be banished by us for fire or other kinds of artificial illumination.
