Chatterly tells the story of a woman, Lady Chatterly, who's married to a man injured in the Great War and paralyzed from the waist down. Her body needs him, needs sex. Love is bodily function as well as something that appeals to the mind; there are some explicit passages in the book. Lawrence himself was in some explicit relationships, some stormy ones,. There was a real life story that may have helped to inspire the main plot, not involving Lawrence.
