Guardiola's Preference for Wide Players

Guardiola has gone through four different areas of wide players. His early Manchester City side were direct, speedy players who generally went down the outside with Sonny and Sterling. Now he's gone more towards playmakers who want to dribble and drift inside. They're not quite inverted wingers because I think they're less direct. He certainly grealish would have thought of himself as a number 10 a few years ago. But yeah, there's been a shift toward a slightly more cautious type of wing. And that's why we can see a guy like Bernarda Silva lining up at winger for Man City due to his control role.
