The scheme hero is designed for that gitops work flow. You put the one amel file to define each table definition, right in the actual same application and it will run on production data base cluster. If you want a delita column, stop using it, deploy that, then delet the column and make another deploy. It's like you sometimes have to end up with multiple deploys to get through the process.
