Orleans and the Second Restoration
Orleans declared that he would remain in paris and not leave until the king ordered him to do so. He recognized louis the eighteenth and pledged to port him. Orleans was happy to entertain liberal intellectuals, old bonapartists and doctrinaire style constitutional monarchists. But it annoyed king louis, who thought the whole thing reeked of an orleans conspiracy.
