The Importance of Capital Stack in Investment Private Equity Groups
Like many companies that we meet with, their balance sheet can't support additional debt. And so we'll come in either with a mezzanine debt piece, which means we're below the bank in the capital stack or on the balance sheet. If there is a situation where there's a liquidation of the business, the senior lender will be paid out first and then the equity holders third.
