The Rise of Automata in Science

The 17th century is known as this like period of sort of the rise of mechanistic philosophy and this idea of the clockwork universe. And in part, that's because clocks were designed to show things like when eclipses were or lunar cycles. They really emerge at the start of the 14th century in what is now Europe and they really proliferate across Europe between about 1300 and 1500. So I think that idea of mechanistic workings, inner workings of a human body can be traced back to Aristotle.
