The Rise of the Copper Industry in Chile in the 1960s
After the Cuban Revolution, there's a sense among such Elaine elites and working with people like John F. Kennedy that revolution might be on the march in places like Chile. So what JFK does in the early 60s is proclaim this alliance for progress, which is supposed to be a Marshall plan for Latin America. And by the time we get to our yend in 1970, this is a country that's highly unequal economically that's political power is restricted to a minority of people. But still it's an oligarchic system.
