How to Build Community in Politics

I want us to be, it's back to the stuff I believe in. How do we get close to people and listen to people and build community over time? Not just a political community, but civic community in a sense of connection. And I think if we understand that we will have a successful participatory democracy, not just if we demand it, but actually we work for it at all levels.
