functional programming is because, you know, we pass functions around a lot. We've built up applications which are like loads of functions glued together like Lego bricks. That's why it gets his name. It's not because all other languages are non-functional. That'd be silly. And believe it or not, I'd find it even more easy to debug in many ways when I'm leaving those previous states in place as they were.
