The Parthenon on the Self-Mave
When the Persians invaded Athens and sacked the city there was a temple being built which is referred to as the older Parthenon. It was in the process of being built on the footprint of where the Parthenon now stands but that was burned and destroyed. And so I'm presuming that one of these buildings that's constructed on the Acropolis is the pathon on its self-mave. Exactly right. So Pericles says okay we are going to build a Acropolis and fortify it and monumentalize it to match our status. But the parthenon that we currently have is a monument that has been turned up to 11.
