Oscar Grant Plaza was an amazing, vibrant, self-managed, auto-gestive community. It was open to anyone except for police and politicians who wanted to participate in this sort of radical experiment. A lot of decisions were also being made by people who just showed up to do the work without necessarily consulting the general assembly. And it was a powerful, confusing, messy, lively, beautiful experience.
