A lot of our beliefs about things like human rights and human limitations do in fact arrive from Christian tradition. You actually have to figure out what the break is between your views and Christianity. It certainly doesn't mean that anyone in US politics or European politics hears especially closely to the Christian view. So maybe thinking that hell is real and you will go there if you engage in certain bad behaviors, maybe that is actually healthy even if the rules themselves are good rules to follow.
