New Discourses

CHAPTER

The Church Is a Church That Forbids Itsself the Easter It Preaches

Fairey: Religion is only the illusory son which revolves around man as long as he does not revolve around himself. The church can be no more utopian prophetic or filled with hope than are the ruling classes, Fairey says. Deprived of its prophetic vision, it takes the road of formalism and bureaucratic rights where hope detached from the future becomes an alienated and alienating abstraction.
