The movie opens with these memories or at least what used to us as memories we have Louise playing with her daughter and it then evolves into this kind of tragic story where her daughter gets ill and she passes away. At the end of course it's revealed like oh no all that stuff that you saw in the beginning that's coming to her in the future that's not she has no awareness of allThis is the majority of the story but I think what a lot of people at the time at least weren't really asking is okay now that we don't know that we no longer have this backstory? That was kind of my initial starting point like who is this character really at the start of the story
