Allan finleyson is a professor of political and social theory at the university of east anglia. He's chairing a workshop called a crisis in rhetoric. The idea behind it is that we want to focus on how people are tring to put forward their arguments, he says. All kinds of ways that people might try to get other people to share their world view, to agree with them about some proposition as to what we should do. That's rhetoric.
