The Microbiome in Parkinson's Disease
Bacteria from a patient with parkinsons into mice, and then the mice start exhibiting the disease. This lot of different ways that the microbes in you gach signal to your brain that hare beeng worked ot in different conditions. In mouse models of outism, the dis functional gut bacteria produce a molecule called four e p s, and that diffuses into the brain and causes harmful effects. It could be a chemical signal or an immune signal, and we don't know which. There's good reason to believe it could be either or both. At this point, it sounds like what happens in the vagus. Nerve doesn't stand vagus, right? Exactly.
