Is Purgatory Necessary?
Purgatory affords us the scope in the space to do just that, even after death. I assign penances that can be filled by the penitent in church immediately after making confession. You're not asked, necessarily, to reveal your sin in making restitution. If you can't make restitution in kind to the party whom you jured, you should make an appropriate restitution of some sort and start paying it back.
