Doug Holliday: Rob Ford was outspoken and sometimes he didn't have his thoughts in line, but lots of times he made sense if you really listened to what he had to say. He knew from a common sense standpoint what needed to be done to manage the affairs of the taxpayers who put us on the council,. That was the brand. If you phone him up, he'd come to your house. And there was a growing segment of Toronto who were buying it. Despite the scandals or maybe because of them, maybe they normalized him.
