The Effects of Hospital-Based Physicians on Patient Sickness
The study found a statistically significant and clinically significant increase in the use of higher intervention services when the cardiologist is part of a hospital system. In most cases, there were no statistical differences between these groups. The patients of independent cardiologists appeared to be a few months older and more likely to have hypertension.
